East of the Digerhuvud is the well-known and frequently visited Helgumannens fishing village and west of ”Bjerget” the larger but perhaps less known fishingvillage is Jauvika, inside Lautervikens southwestern corner.
The fishingvillage consists of a collection of small picturesque small houses and old boats. Here as well as at Helgumannen, there is no permanent summer residents, only saved for cultural and historical reasons.
Although bulhus or so-called post-and-plank was the more common wood building technology at the former Gotland, there were also previously a lot of loghouses. Of these remains now only a few.
The little old-timbered hut by Jauvika was in very bad shape but no less valuable as an example of this extinction buildingmethod. ”Hembygdsföreningen” took over that from the previous owner, who also donated timber and as soon as possible the carefully restoration began. It has not been a shed to sleep in, but designed for tool storage.
